Dr. Robert Koons, Professor of Philosophy and Author

Dr. Robert Koons, M. A. Oxford (Marshall Scholar, First Class Honours), Ph.D. UCLA. Has taught at the University of Texas at Austin since 1987. Author and co-author of six books, including Realism Regained (Oxford 2000), Metaphysics: The Fundamentals (2014), and The Atlas of Reality (2017), and co-editor of four books, including The Waning of Materialism (Oxford 2010) and Classical Theism (2023). Author of over 100 articles in academic journals. Past research fellowships at Princeton, Oxford, and Nanjing University. Phi Beta Kappa national senator (2009-2020). Affiliate of UT’s new School of Civic Leadership. Koons has a lifelong interest in the history and philosophy of education, from antiquity to the present. He regularly teaches ancient, medieval and Renaissance, and contemporary philosophy.
