Dr. Douglas Simon, Dean and Commandant of Texan Corps of Cadets

Dr. Douglas Simon is the Dean for the College of Leadership and Military Studies and the Commandant of the Texan Corps of Cadets at Tarleton State University. Prior to Tarleton, Dr. Simon held a tenured full professor position for 23 years where he taught law, politics, and business.  Dr. Simon is published in the Military Law Review and the Army Lawyer writing on the Uniform Code of Military Justice. His civilian education includes a bachelor's degree in political science and history, a Master of Public Administration, a Juris Doctorate, and a Doctor of Philosophy. Dr. Simon also serves as a colonel in the Army Reserve as a judge advocate.  Colonel Simon has two operational assignments. The first occurred in 2003-2004 with Operation Joint Forge, operating in Bosnia-Herzegovina.  The second occurred in 2008-2009 with Operation Iraqi Freedom while serving as a Brigade Judge Advocate for the 34th Combat Aviation Brigade in Iraq. Colonel Simon is a graduate of the Army War College Fellowship Program in 2020, and he holds a Master’s in Laws from the Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School.
