Update by the Texas Education Agency Office of the Inspector General for Educator Misconduct

COMMITTEE ON SCHOOL INITIATIVES: DISCUSSION
STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION: NO ACTION

SUMMARY: Inspector General Levi Fuller will provide an introduction and an update on the initiatives of the Texas Education Agency and the Office of the Inspector General, including the Educator Misconduct Reporting Dashboard and an update on the operation of Senate Bill (SB) 571.

STATUTORY AUTHORITY: Texas Education Code (TEC), §7.055(b)(2), and §7.102(b).

TEC, §7.055(b)(2) allows the Commissioner of the Texas Education Agency (TEA) or his delegee to perform duties of the agency.

TEC, §7.102(b) requires the State Board of Education (SBOE) to carry out its duties with the advice and assistance of the Commissioner.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND JUSTIFICATION: The State Board of Education requested a briefing regarding the Office of the Inspector General for Educator Misconduct. This item provides an opportunity for the committee to hear updates on Educator Misconduct.
